Description

An old man sits in his car outside a prison with only his regret for company. It’s been 16 years since he betrayed his sons trust and condemned him to a long prison sentence; a sentence that has now passed and he has come to take his son home. Above his head, an Albatross circles that is far from home. Another lost soul. His son emerges and so begins their long journey, however the road they travel is nothing compared to the emotional journey they are about to take and it isn’t long before nearly two decades of things unsaid bubble to the surface. Both men have become trapped inside emotional prisons of their own creation and they must confront their past before they can be released. The story takes a turn in the 3rd act when the car hits the Albatross that has been following overhead. Suffering on the side of the road, the two men argue over who is to put the animal out of its misery, when really it's them that need to be sacrificed to find peace with each other. Albatross is an autobiographical drama about events that happened in my own life.

Biblical Connection

The biblical source I have selected is John 20:23 "If you forgive the sins of any, their sins have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained”.
