How it works

We invest in untapped potential. The unique challenge of The Pitch is to come up with a contemporary film idea that draws on the Bible for inspiration. We have top advice to get the creative juices flowing and a production budget, production support and other prizes waiting for the best ideas.

There is a LOT of detail below on the deadlines and judging process, but the basics are simple: upload a two-minute video describing your idea for a short film inspired by the Bible. The top ten will be invited to pitch to a panel of industry experts in person at the National Film and Television School in January 2020. The winner will get to make their film. There’s a more comprehensive breakdown of the process below.

Production of The Pitch Winner’s film Summer 2020

The Pitch Winner will begin making their film in production with Reel Issues Film (RIF). This process will take your vision and help take it to the very best film you can make. We believe in investing in people. We want you to have the best possible career boost from this opportunity and we want your film to showcase our competition to the world (we have an important and growing international presence).

Our process begins by focussing on the story and characters to develop the strongest script possible. Working alongside leading industry professionals, you will have a unique opportunity to experience top level development input.

Although the exact production schedule will be built around your particular project and circumstances we aim to move into production and shoot by early – mid summer. We hope to have a film to take to LA in time for early November and certainly to premiere at the next finalists' weekend in January 2021.

The Pitch Winner Trip to LA Autumn 2020

The Pitch Winner wins a trip to LA in the autumn of 2020 – an opportunity to meet industry professionals and receive feedback on the work. Timing this trip to overlap with the American Film Market can bring the additional benefits of being in town when there is a significant number of professionals in town, plus some fascinating seminars to attend.
