The Pitch 2017

Film maker Ben Cohen wins The Pitch

Congratulations to our latest winner, Ben Cohen, Film Director and Zoya Films co-founder from Whitechapel. Before he reached the final day, Ben's story had moved on from his original pitch to find an elegant and moving way of retelling a much loved parable. Here's what he had to say when he won The Pitch film competition on Sunday.

Ben, a front runner from the start, took his inspiration from a drag show he saw in Cuba and retells the well-known parable of The Prodigal Son from the older son’s perspective. The Pitch receives pitches on this popular story nearly every year but Ben impressed the judges by his unique take on it. Congratulations also go to our all other finalists, especially our runners-up. This year was an especially hard decision for the jury who chose to select four filmmakers to pitch again on Sunday. Joe O’Hare, Mari Stracke and Henry Steedman all returned with strong responses to notes from the jury and with projects they still hope to see developed.
