Film writer Paul Holbrook wins The Pitch

PAUL HOLBROOK, Film Writer/Director from Whitchurch, Bristol has won The Pitch film competition this year with his short dark thriller film idea Hollow.

38 year old Paul pitched his film idea set on an impoverished council estate. Hollow tells the story about a single mother consumed by grief and is seeking revenge against a man who killed her son in a drink drive accident, but she’s unable to find the strength to go through with it. She seeks guidance from a tormented local vicar – a man also on-the-edge.

Paul has written a revenge-based thriller - a concept that has interested him for a while and one that he was able to share with such passion. Hollow investigates revenge from different angles shown from the three characters all with different approaches to life.

Speaking about Paul’s pitch Luke Walton says, “Hollow provides a compelling adaptation of the source text delivered with an authentic voice which needs to be heard.”

Also bringing fantastic projects to a competitive field were runners up Simon Sylvester and Anderson West. Luke Walton added, “They are both outstanding filmmakers and their skills and ideas led to some incredibly tough choices for the panel. Frankly all of these films should be made!”
